A layover at Narita Airport: what to eat when you have one or two hours
From a domestic flight to an international one, or between an arrival and the next departure. A layover at Narita often leaves you with an awkward amount of time: enough to sit down, but not enough to relax about it.
Mendokoro Tsuruhan is on the 4th floor of Terminal 2 Main Building, landside, before security. It is easy to reach while you are moving between the two.
When you have about an hour
A plain bowl of noodles arrives quickly and leaves you time for the next step, while still giving you the aroma of the dashi.
- Kitsune (fried tofu) 950 yen
- Ume-ka 1,180 yen
- Plain zaru, cold 900 yen
- Aosa seaweed 980 yen
When you have an hour and a half to two hours
With more room, a set that pairs noodles with rice makes sense. On a day with a long gap ahead, eating properly here makes the flight easier.
- Small tendon with tororo-kombu udon set 1,580 yen
- Small katsudon with cold zaru 1,580 yen
- Burdock Tempura Udon & Kuroge Wagyu Rice Curry Set 1,680 yen
One thing to check on a connection day
We are before security. If you have already passed into the restricted area, you would need to come back out, and depending on your route that may not be possible. Please check with airport staff.
For the day flight status and how long each step is taking, the Narita International Airport website is the reliable source.
Somewhere to settle while you wait
With 54 seats there is room to keep your bags beside you. Menus in several languages make it easy to choose if this is your first bowl of Japanese noodles.
All prices include tax. Open 7:00-20:30 (L.O.).
