Breakfast at Narita Airport: hot udon from 7:00 am on Terminal 2, 4F

On the morning of an early flight, breakfast at the airport is often an afterthought. You left home before dawn, and the meal on board is still hours away.

Mendokoro Tsuruhan, on the 4th floor of Terminal 2 Main Building at Narita International Airport, opens at 7:00 am. We are landside, before security, so you can stop by before or after check-in.

Few places are open that early

Time is hard to judge around the check-in queue. A coffee will do, but on a long flight day a warm bowl settles you.

We have 54 seats, so there is room whether you are alone or travelling as a family. Baby chairs and menus in several languages are available.

A light bowl that lets the dashi speak

For breakfast, the simplest bowls are the best. With few toppings, the aroma of the broth comes through clearly.

  • Kitsune (fried tofu) 950 yen
  • Aosa seaweed 980 yen
  • Plain zaru, cold 900 yen

Our dashi is a fragrant Kansai-style broth, drawn generously from soda-katsuo bonito flakes, mackerel flakes and sardine niboshi. First thing in the morning, you notice the aroma most.

When you want something more substantial

If you have connections ahead, or the timing of the meal on board is uncertain, add a rice dish.

  • Ume and egg 1,280 yen
  • Small tendon with tororo-kombu udon set 1,580 yen
  • Small katsudon with tororo-kombu udon set 1,580 yen

All prices include tax.

Work back from your departure time

Security and immigration take different amounts of time depending on the flight and the season. Check the day on the Narita International Airport website, and come with time to spare.

Last order is 20:30, so we are here for evening flights as well as early ones.
