[Direct from Narita Airport Terminal 2] Udon and donburi sets where the dashi takes the lead, on the 4th floor at Mendokoro Tsuruhan

Just steps from Airport Terminal 2 Station on the JR and Keisei lines, Mendokoro Tsuruhan Narita International Airport on the 4th floor of Terminal 2 Main Building serves udon built on a properly made dashi, along with donburi and jubako sets.

Here we introduce what makes Tsuruhan worth a visit, and what to order, whether you are eating before a flight or having lunch between a drop-off and a pick-up.

1. 146 m from Airport Terminal 2 Station, and landside, so anyone can visit

The greatest thing about Mendokoro Tsuruhan Narita International Airport is where it is. About 146 m from Airport Terminal 2 Station on the JR and Keisei lines, on the 4th floor of Terminal 2 Main Building, it is easy to reach whatever the weather.

What is more, the restaurant islandside area, before security. Visitors who are not flying, and those seeing someone off, are welcome. Inside, the mood is calm and Japanese, with 54 seats, suited to a quick solo lunch as much as to a meal with family or a group (children menu, high chairs and a multilingual menu available).

2. Firm Sanuki udon and a fragrant Kansai-style dashi

At the heart of Tsuruhan flavour is the harmony between a carefully considered noodle and dashi.

A special blended noodle: Firm to the bite, smooth on the way down. That texture, distinctive to Sanuki udon, stands up to the aroma of the dashi.
A fragrant, superb Kansai dashi: Built on saba-bushi and iwashi niboshi, with sodagatsuo-bushi lending a soft depth of aroma to this Kansai-style broth.
In harmony with Japanese food and beef dishes: It goes beautifully with richly savoury kuroge wagyu, and with tempura fried to order.

One sip fills the mouth with the rich aroma of the bonito and mackerel flakes, and the gentle savour of the ingredients settles slowly through you.

3. Signature dishes to try at least once

Chikuwa and egg tempura with seared kuroge wagyu bukkake (1,680 yen incl. tax): Crisp chikuwa tempura and soft-yolked egg tempura, generously topped with fragrantly seared kuroge wagyu, our most popular bowl.
Seared kuroge wagyu with grated radish bukkake udon (1,580 yen incl. tax): Fragrantly seared kuroge wagyu with refreshing grated radish. Firm Sanuki udon and a Kansai-style dashi tie it together.
Katsu curry udon with kuroge wagyu (1,780 yen incl. tax): A generous bowl of savoury, spicy curry rich with dashi, with juicy katsu and kuroge wagyu.
Tenju set (1,980 yen incl. tax): A handsome tenju of two prawns, egg, three vegetables and nori, with a half portion of udon (hot or cold) and pickles, a thoroughly satisfying set.
